Stan Brodsky is a masterful painter who was my art history teacher in college. I received a grant from Long Island University to make a film portrait of Stan and his work in 1985. I challenged myself to make a non-narrative movie that interprets his style instead of explaining his method of painting.
The idea was to make a short film that invited the viewer to feel the process and experience the source of his inspiration to paint. Much of Stan’s earlier works reflected were he lived – on the North shore of Long Island.
This film was partially sponsored by Long Island University.
